The combination of design thinking with sustainability topics, issues or perspectives results in sustainable design thinking. This utilises innovation and creative techniques to develop targeted solutions and new approaches in terms of sustainability.
In the various phases of the familiar design thinking process, sustainability topics (e.g. from the 17 SDGs) or social/environmental/governance challenges with the familiar methods and tools of classic design thinking. The initial question can be formulated, for example: How can we as a company make a contribution to SDG4 with our Görlitz plant location? In the problem analysis phase, for example, the particular challenges for good governance are identified. In the solution phase, for example, personas are developed that have a strong environmental focus or have the job background of "reverberation management".
The mindset and methodological toolbox of design thinking are already well known and established in many organisations. In combination with a focus on sustainability, this becomes Sustainable Design Thinking and promotes sustainability innovations and solutions.
