The National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights (NAP) was adopted by the Federal Cabinet on 21 December 2016. The aim of the plan is to implement the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and specifically to improve the human rights situation along the supply and value chains in Germany and worldwide. The development of the NAP was based on a two-year consultation process with stakeholders from civil society, business and politics. In addition to the Federal Foreign Office (AA), which took the lead, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS), the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection (BMJV), the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) were also involved.
