ISO 26000

« Back to Glossary Index

ISO 26000 is a guideline designed to help organisations meet their social and environmental responsibilities. It is expressly not a standard and no certifications can be carried out in accordance with it. Its application should be open to all types of organisations and it is entirely voluntary.

The guidelines list seven principles of social responsibility and the core element of implementation is the inclusion of stakeholder demands (stakeholder dialogue). The core topics of the guideline are: Corporate Governance, Human Rights, Labour Practices, Environment, Fair Business Practices, Customer Concerns and Community Involvement.
