The German Sustainability Code
The Sustainability Code is a reporting standard for standardised, transparent, easily understandable sustainability reports, which was developed by the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE) was developed. The RNE is the Federal Government's advisory body on sustainability.
Why work with the DNK?
With the Sustainability Code, you are taking the first steps towards sustainability reporting (CSR report). At the same time, you also fulfil the legal requirementswhich the CSR-RUG (CSR Directive Implementation Act) requires. The DNK is intended to provide a low-threshold introduction and is increasingly establishing itself as a standard in Germany. While other standards, such as those of the GRI, are designed for larger companies, the Code is explicitly aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Current topic of materiality in the DNK
Since the renewal of the Sustainability Code guidelines in 2020 at the latest, the Code has placed a strong emphasis on the topic of materiality. This means that the company's reporting and sustainability performance should focus on the topics that are most relevant to the environment and society.
This is also an advantage for the users of the Sustainability Code, as this focus helps both their own resources and their communication. This allows companies to concentrate all the more on the issues where they have the greatest leverage for sustainability.

Our services as a training partner of the German Sustainability Code
We support you if you want to use the Sustainability Code as a sustainability reporting standard. As a partner of the DNK, we are your first point of contact locally and provide information, training and personalised advice.
We offer information sessions and targeted training courses to make you fit for implementing the CSR guideline on your own. However, as some aspects of reporting, such as the development of a sustainability strategy, are significantly more complex, we are also happy to provide you with individual support during the introduction of the Code. This can range from individual workshops on strategy, processes and targets to the operational preparation of the Sustainability Code declaration.
We prepare you for reporting in accordance with the Sustainability Code, support you in the process itself and, at your request, also prepare your Sustainability Code declaration, with which you officially fulfil the standard. If you wish, we can also work with partners to create a publicity-grabbing sustainability report on the basis we have developed, whether in print or online.
