The EmpCo conspiracy: game instructions 🎲

1. the case

Someone is planning a Greenwashing-crime and the new EmpCo Directive of the EU (2024/825) is actually designed to prevent exactly that.
Your mission: thwart the coup and expose the masterminds! 🕵️

And even if guidelines for most Sustainability Professionals are of course exciting anyway, here we test how much more fun there is in learning: in the form of a darkly humorous detective case.

• The game consists of 5 Puzzles
• Duration: approx. 10-30 minutes, depending on your intuition
• You can alone or in a team play

2. crime scene & playing field

Your operations centre is an online „survey“ in Microsoft Forms:

• There you can read the History and get hints
• These will lead you to other websites and digital places where the puzzles lurk
• Once you have solved a puzzle, you return to Forms and select the answer there

You will find information both in the Texts as well as in the Pictures (details, symbols, file names, etc.).

3. your order

Thwart the planned greenwashing crime!

You have to:

• follow the clues in the story
• the 5 puzzles solve
• understand what EmpCo requires and what goes wrong in the case

You need this:

• existing EmpCo knowledge or
• the willingness to through research in the game to appropriate

Keep a few things in mind right at the start trustworthy sources (e.g. official EU information on EmpCo).

4. how the investigation works

1. Start the game via the link to Microsoft Forms.
2. Read the respective period of history carefully.
3. Consequence the references to a website or another digital location.
4. Research & combine, until you can solve the puzzle.
5. Stretcher your solution in Forms and continue to the next section.

Crime is not stupid: sometimes you have to think outside the box and try things out a little.

5. rules & experiments

• Per puzzle you have 3 attempts:
  • 1st attempt: You enter your solution.
  • Wrong? You come to Experiment #2 and receive a first additional hint.
  • Wrong again? You end up with Experiment #3 with a second additional note.
• After the third attempt, it's over. Crime has triumphed. But of course you can start again from the beginning!

Research is expressly permitted! It only makes you more professional.

6. what is there to win?

The reward remains for the time being secret.

At the end you will receive a Helpful tool, which will also help you to be better prepared after the game, EmpCo violations and greenwashing to track down.
