Value chain

« Back to Glossary Index

The value chain is the complete sequence of activities or actors that create or receive value in the form of products or services. Activities can include: raw material procurement, prefabrication, finishing, distribution, logistics, recycling and disposal of used products. Actors that create value include suppliers, outsourced labour, contractors and others. The actors who receive value include customers, consumers, clients, members and other users. The value chain is therefore the broader concept than the supply chain.
