Sustainability report

« Back to Glossary Index

A medium through which companies, municipalities or other organisations (NGOs, universities, etc.) regularly and systematically provide information about their responsibility, their performance and activities, as well as their positive and negative effects on society and the natural environment.

Sustainability reports can be printed or available online. Important criteria are that they are publicly accessible, understandable, transparent and comprehensible, up-to-date and appear regularly.

There are various standards that can be used for reporting. Reporting standards provide a framework, which makes it easier for companies and organisations to create a sustainability report. It also increases comparability. Typical standards are, for example, the DNK (German Sustainability Code) and the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative).
Alternatively, a report can also be created according to criteria of your own choice.
