Greenhouse Gas Protocol

« Back to Glossary Index

The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG) was developed by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). Many companies already comply with it and almost all industry-specific standards are derived from it. In accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, in addition to direct emissions caused by machines or business trips during the production process (Scope 1), emissions caused by the use of electricity or by suppliers (Scope 2 and 3) should also be identified wherever possible.
