Decarbonisation refers to the targeted reduction of CO₂ emissions in the economy and society in order to limit climate change. The aim is to replace fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas with renewable energies and climate-friendly technologies. Decarbonisation is a central building block for achieving climate neutrality and sustainable economic activity.
